The Bell Tower Apartment

One of our favourites is “Uncle George’s Mehana”. This is a traditional Mehana tucked away in the cobbled streets of Old Bansko run by Uncle George and his wife Lili, also known as Lili Marlena.  The Mehana is located in a picturesque 300 year old building and has been a restaurant almost forever, though George and Lili have been operating a much shorter time! The traditional decorations and the roaring log fire create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere that will enhance your dining experience. After desert you may be tempted to try Uncle George’s rakia, the fiery local spirit that allegedly aids your digestion after the generous portions that you have just consumed take their toll.

As you are walking down Pirin Street turn into the first cobbled street, just up hill of the museum of the Neophyte of Rila, and follow your nose. You will find the Mehana after about 300 meters on the right hand side adjacent to a small square. The address is 8 Neophyte Rilski Street. Call +00359 889937577 for a reservation or email tracedin@yahoo.co.uk.

They looked after us so well that we have negotiated a 10% discount at their Mehana for all our guests. This will allow all of our clients to sample the best food in Bansko at an extra reasonable price. Just print the discount voucher and take it with you to take advantage of this offer.
